Shade Sail Installation
If you are installing your own shade sail there are a few steps you need to take to ensure a proper installation. Remember to read your instruction manual carefully and ask your manufacturer for guidance if you have any queries.
First of all, make sure you measure the area that you want to cover with your shade sail, checking all sides and measuring diagonally so that you can determine that you have the right size and shape sail. Once you are ready to install, consider the height and direction of the sun. This will help figure out how high the sail should be placed.
Your shade sail will need to be anchored to strong, stable fixing points, so before installation you should check that the points are sturdy enough to withstand the weight. If there are no appropriate fixing points, it's fairly easy to construct your own using steel or timber.
Once your fixing points are ready, stretch the corners of the shade sail tight between the points, making sure that the posts are leaning away from the shade sail to reduce strain on the fabric. Pull the material taut and twist it slightly, anchoring it diagonally at different heights. A stable curvature will be more resilient against wind and other forces, and will be less likely to hold water and thus be weighed down.
